Password Protecting Directories on Linux Based Hosting Plans
WeDoHosting.com provides a utility to password-protect directories on
our Linux hosting packages.
For Windows clients, Microsoft has 2 support articles, available at Microsoft's
support site Q301942 deals with securing content using Microsoft Frontpage,
and Q301464 deals with securing content via ASP pages.
To use the access management system, simply enter the URL:
http://yourdomain.com/common-cgi/access-control/access.cgi
into your browser, replacing 'yourdomain.com' with your domain name.
Instructions on using the system are provided within the pages.
Note that the system creates and manages its own .htaccess files, and
any other .htaccess files in your directory structure (such as the one
created in the htdocs directory by FrontPage) cannot be managed using
this system. You will have to manually delete those .htaccess files if
you wish to use our system to manage those directories.
Please email us at support@wedohosting.com if you are having any problems
setting up secure access. Please provide your domain name and the name
of the directory you are trying to secure.
thank you.
