All about your disk storage on the WeDoHosting.com servers.
Checking your disk usage on Linux hosting
To access your disk usage for any Linux based hosting plan, you will need to use your domain
name in the following format:
http://www.yourdomainname.com/common-cgi/diskusage/diskusage.cgi
You will require your account's username and password to view the
information. Just a FYI - all the folders that you see with _vti_blah
are all MS Front Page extension folders. You may remove them if you are not using Front Page.
Checking your disk usage on Windows hosting
To access your disk usage for any Windows based hosting plan, you will need to download a copy of our script and upload it to your account.
These are the steps:
1. Rick-click this link: diskusage.pl and choose 'Save Target As..'. This will open a new window.
2. For "Save in:" at the top of this window, choose a spot that you will easily remember - a lot of people select "Desktop".
3. For "File name", leave the field as diskusage.pl
4. For "Save as type", change this option to "All Files" from the drop-down box.
5. Click "Save".
6. Upload this saved file to your website and place it in the "www" folder just as you do for all your webpages.
Now you can go to http://www.yourdomain.com/diskusage.pl and it will print a list of your current disk usage.
(substitute www.yourdomain.com with your actual domain name).
How we collect disk usage.
Disk storage for your website is calculated daily and averaged out of the period of your billing month.
Our servers calculate the amount of storage used each day in your home directory. At the end
of the month, it generates a total of disk usage and then averages the amount on your billing date.
An example of how this looks follows in the table below:
| Day 1 |
4.12MB |

Total GB = 927.24GB,
Then to get the average we divide by the 30 days to get:
30.908GB Average
|
So that is the magic of disk averaging for storage usage. For disk
transmission we count each byte that comes in and goes out from
your site and that information is downloaded and calculated in our
statistics server each evening.
